The AyaQuest curriculum.

Every surah in AyaQuest is built the same way: a setup, a moment of rising action, a wonder, a real moral choice, a resolution, and a reflection that lands the lesson in your child's life. After the story, a comprehension quiz checks understanding. Then your child can ask Aya anything they're curious about — about the story, the words, the world.

We don't skip the hard parts. Yusuf's brothers really do throw him in the well. Pharaoh really does refuse to listen. Ibrahim really does question. The Quran doesn't soften these moments, and neither do we — but we tell them at a child's pace, with a child's vocabulary, and with a parent reading along if they want to.

Four regions, one journey.

🌅 Starter Islands

Begin where the Quran begins. The shortest, most foundational surahs — the ones a child likely already hears at home or in prayer.

Sample surahs in this region
  • Al-Fatiha — the opening
  • Al-Fil — the army of the elephant
  • Al-Kawthar — the river of plenty
  • Al-Ikhlas — pure devotion
  • Al-Falaq — refuge from harm
  • An-Nas — refuge in people's Lord
What your child will be able to do
  • Recognize the surahs of the daily prayers by name
  • Understand the story behind Al-Fil
  • Name the three Mu'awwidhat and what each is refuge from

🏞️ Land of Prophets

Meet the prophets whose stories the Quran retells — patience under Pharaoh, the test of Ibrahim, the wonder of Yunus.

Sample surahs in this region
  • Yusuf — patience and trust
  • Maryam — courage and care
  • Ibrahim — the questioning heart
  • Yunus — the prophet in the whale
  • Hud — perseverance
What your child will be able to do
  • Retell a prophet's story in your own words
  • Connect a prophet's choice to a choice in your own week
  • Name three prophets and the values their stories teach

🌿 Garden of Ethics

What does the Quran teach about how to treat parents, neighbors, strangers, animals, the earth? The middle-length surahs that anchor everyday ethics.

Sample surahs in this region
  • Al-Hujurat — kindness in speech
  • Al-Isra — the night journey & honoring parents
  • Luqman — wisdom passed down
  • Al-Asr — the urgency of doing good
What your child will be able to do
  • Identify three ways the Quran asks you to treat your parents
  • Explain why Al-Asr is so short and so important
  • Apply one Luqman teaching to a real situation

⛰️ Mountain of Wonders

The longer surahs, the cosmic imagery, the questions older kids start asking — about the unseen, the hereafter, the meaning of it all.

Sample surahs in this region
  • Al-Mulk — the kingdom
  • Al-Waqi'ah — the inevitable
  • Ar-Rahman — the most merciful
  • Ya-Sin — the heart of the Quran
What your child will be able to do
  • Begin a conversation about the unseen with confidence
  • Recognize the repeated 'which of the favors of your Lord' in Ar-Rahman
  • Connect a surah to a question they actually have

How long does it take?

Each surah lesson is a 5–10-minute story. Most parents find their child wants to do one lesson at a time, often as part of a bedtime routine. The Walk-with-Aya mode (a narrated bedtime version of each surah) is designed exactly for that. The Starter Islands region typically takes a few weeks of relaxed nightly play to complete.

Does AyaQuest teach Arabic recitation or tajwid?

Arabic surah names appear alongside English, with audio pronunciation, so children meet the script as something familiar. Recitation and tajwid are not the focus — meaning and reflection are. If your child also studies recitation with a teacher, AyaQuest gives meaning to the verses they recite.
